Post Facelift Skin Treatments That Will Enhance Your Result
After having a facelift, it’s important to look towards the texture of the skin and what we can do to help improve the appearance of it. While a facelift can help with the laxity of the skin, it doesn’t address the overall surface area. A combination of skin treatments and also injectables can help to address any sun damage, vascular irregularities, dull skin, uneven skin texture, and fine lines.
A main concern that a lot of patients have is pigmentation that is present not only on their face, but also on larger areas of the body. The best treatment to target this is BBL (broad band light), which emits light to reach different depths of the skin. It is drawn to the pigmentation to shatter it. The area of pigment will darken, then flake off leaving the skin more even. This treatment also works brilliantly on redness and vessels, as well as stimulating collagen to rejuvenate the skin.
For patients looking to resurface or remodel the collagen in the skin, our Profractional or Microlaserpeel are a great complementary treatment to a facelift. These treatments can be performed in the post op stage from day 5 and onwards. Patients often choose to do these procedures at this point as they can combine the downtime of the surgery with the downtime of the laser. Profractional can be used over any scars once the sutures are out to promote healing and collagen growth. The Microlaserpeel is great to help refine and resurface the texture of the skin, whilst also picking up any sun damage, while the Profractional is great for any lines and to plump the skin.
Something less intensive and a way to just freshen up the skin with little downtime is skin peels. At Dr Warwick Nettle, we have a variety of peels to address different patients’ skin types. Peels help to break down the dead skin cells that can leave the skin feeling rough and looking dull. Peels encourage the skin to exfoliate and leave the skin looking bright and feeling smooth.
Something to keep in mind for further down the track after surgery is Ultherapy. This is recommended a few years post-surgery to help maintain the results of the facelift. Ultherapy uses ultra-sound energy to produce fresh new collagen to lift and tighten the skin. There is little to no downtime with this treatment, with results being seen around three months later.
Anti-wrinkle injections and cosmetic fillers can be the finishing touches to your facelift journey. Anti-wrinkle injections are muscle relaxants that can be used to soften frown lines and crow’s feet and lift the eyebrows. Cosmetic fillers help to enhance the lip line, fill creases and folds in the skin, and soften wrinkles.
Every facelift patient is different and requires different post-op care. Our team at Dr Warwick Nettle will make sure to find the perfect treatment and skincare for you to enhance your facelift and give you the best result possible.
