The Procedure
After a full consultation to discuss your skin concerns, a tailored treatment plan is scheduled. Depending on your desired results, you may require multiple treatments. Profractional Laser can be done 4-6 weeks apart, and can also be combined with other treatments such as MicroLaserPeel for optimum results. On the day of your treatment, photos are taken and a topical anaesthetic is applied to your skin 1 hour before treatment. After cleansing the skin, the laser is passed over the skin then Paw Paw ointment applied.

The Recovery
Immediately after the treatment, you will experience redness that will resemble a slight sunburn and there may be minor swelling. Skin is expected to flake a few days post treatment. Downtime will differ from patient to patient, and depends on how deep the Profractional treatment has been performed. Patients should expect anywhere between 5-10 days for full recovery.

FAQS
ProFractional Laser selectively treats tiny sections deep in the skin, while minimally affecting the skin’s surface. The laser targets aged and damaged skin by creating evenly-spaced, small pinpoint rejuvenation channels deep into the dermis. As the laser treats a portion or “fraction” of the skin’s deepest layers, the surrounding areas are left unharmed. These vertical microscopic treatment areas, called “Micro Thermal Zones” trigger the body to create its own new natural collagen deep in the dermis.

ProFractional Laser treatments are safe and effective. Following a treatment, the skin becomes red and swollen for about two days, followed by a week of peeling and flaking. It is important to realise that the severity of your condition determines the extent of treatment. When more extensive or combination treatments are necessary, such as when treating deep wrinkles or acne scars, pinpoint scabbing may occur, but this resolves within 5-10 days. During the following months, patients are encouraged to wear sunscreen and to limit sun exposure.
You will be given specific instructions for your after-care treatment by our Dermal Clinician.
Usually patients can see significant results in one treatment. This is especially true if the fractionated laser is also combined with either BBL, or Erbium resurfacing. Some patients will require additional treatments to help achieve more dramatic results.
