The Procedure
During the anti-wrinkle injections procedure, a purified protein is injected in minute quantities to soften dynamic facial lines by blocking muscle contraction. These anti-wrinkle injections have been used for more than 30 years to treat irregular and involuntary muscle movements of the eyelids and face. Anti-wrinkle injections block the muscular activity that causes facial lines and wrinkles and usually last for several months. These anti-wrinkle injections take approximately 30 minutes and involve very minimal pain. Anaesthetic cream or icy poles may be applied prior to treatment, together with the administration of nitrous oxide gas, if needed.
The Recovery
You may experience slight temporary bruising near the injection site. However most normal activities can be resumed immediately following treatment. Heavy exercise and lying flat for the first 3 – 4 hours after treatment are best avoided. It is also recommended that the face is washed gently and no creams applied the evening after treatment. Results from muscle-relaxer injections usually take four days to be seen and up to 10 days to be final.
