Christmas is over and 2019 is upon us. We indulged and enjoyed the spoils now it’s time to get back into a healthy lifestyle. Whilst many of us make new year’s resolutions to start a diet, go to the gym, or eat better many of those plans fall by the wayside come late January.

To help you get back on track with minimal effort why not try CoolSculpting? If you haven’t heard of it, you’ll be happy to know that it is a machine that can be applied to many areas of the body to reduce fat -by up to 25%!

The image shows fat cells before being frozen (on the left), once frozen the body begins to break down the fat cells (middle two images) and eventually eliminates them through the lymphatic system. The final image shows a reduction in the amount of fat cells (adipose tissue).

Cryolipolysis (or fat freezing) is the non-invasive cooling of adipose tissue to induce lipolysis (the breakdown down fat cells) without damage to other tissues. Results are apparent in as little as two months, but the best results are seen at three months

Cryolipolysis is based on the principle that fat cells are more vulnerable to cooling than surrounding tissues. The adipose tissue is targeted but leaves the surrounding cells free from damage.  The cooled fat cells undergo apoptosis (controlled cell death) and are gradually eliminated, reducing the thickness of the fat layer. As the fat is slowly removed over a period of three months there is no adverse effect on the body as it removes damaged cells as part of the body’s natural functions.

In the weeks to follow, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates dead cells. CoolSculpting results can be maintained with a balanced diet as the fat cells have been eliminated therefore, you will not put on weight if you keep a healthy diet and lifestyle. This does not mean that you cannot put on weight but as the fat cells expand when you put on weight, however as there are fewer fat cells it does take a while for you to see any weight gain.
