Diary of a Hairline Lowering

A high hairline can be a real concern for women as it often creates a masculine and ageing appearance and disrupts the balance of a woman’s facial features. Dr Nettle is the only Plastic Surgeon in Australia to perform hairline lowering, a procedure which has helped many women feel beautiful again.

Emma is one of Dr Nettle’s hairline lowering patients, here she shares her journey with us:

I have always been very self-conscious of my high hairline, always wearing a fringe hair sprayed across my face everywhere I went; from when I got out of bed in the morning, to the gym, when I went swimming and even when I slept. I thought this would be my life, and what it consists of to it’s entirety, even though this sounds ridiculous to someone who doesn’t understand.

I always had thought to myself half-heartedly, ‘imagine if a surgeon could just cut my hairline and pull it down, even just a centimeter’. I started googling my idea, not expecting to find any such thing, until I came across Dr Warwick Nettle and from that moment I had my heart set on having this procedure done.

I read about the procedure, went through before and afters of previous patients who underwent a hairline lowering surgery and after this, I was determined to make it happen, even if that meant being a student and having to work longer hours, relying solely on my casual job to pay my way. I was having this done! I rang the next day, booked my consultation and haven’t looked back since.

My dream became a reality very quickly. I must say I didn’t know what to expect going in to the consult, but I left feeling relieved and satisfied that all my questions had been answered. I felt comforted and understood and was so excited for my operation date to come around, I thought it never would. At the same time, I was also terrified.

On the day of the operation, I was very anxious but felt very confident and comfortable being in the hands of a great team. I was too excited for it all to be over and see the result. The result has changed my life.

Post operation, the nurse was very comforting and understanding and kept in contact with me over the duration of my recovery, ensuring I was okay and answering any questions I might have had. Post-operative pain was bearable with pain relief, and was not as painful as I first thought. After three days I was not 100%, but I was back at work. After three weeks I was back in the swing of my everyday routine and I have never looked back.

Words can’t describe how happy I am with my result, done with high skill and precision, and how it has changed my life. I am enjoying different hairstyles, sleeping in an extra hour or so in the mornings, being relaxed about my hair at the gym and am looking forward to enjoying myself at the beach this summer!
